Niludhan Falls is an eye catching place in Barangay Dawis, Bayawan City. Considered to be one of the pride of Negros Oriental. Even though the falls is near to the municipality of Mabinay, the barangay where it is situated, it is actually a part of Bayawan City. The falls was called Niludhan or (Kneeling) because of local stories that the water buffalos used in farming must kneel after crossing the top of the falls because of the rough and rugged trail. The waterfall is around 25 meters wide and has a 40-meter vertical drop that builds a beautiful curtain of water. The plants around the area are also magnificent. The white color of the falls combined with the green of the plants and the blue of the sky make every angle a perfect shot. Read More!

There was no other people on the site when we arrived at Niludhan falls. There was even no caretakers assigned to collect for entrance fee and rental for huts. Its totally undevelop compare to other waterfalls in the country. We just spent few minutes enjoying the view and take snapshots then left the area. If only we have enough time, I will not hesitate to take a dip into its water. Also another factor that made us decide not to spend much time on the falls is the bad weather and it seemed that a heavy downpour is coming anytime and we still have to travel to the next barangay. Niludhan Falls is one of the best kept secrets of Negros Oriental. Situated in the heart of the Negros Island, Niludhan Falls offers cold soothing water that drops from a river about 2 to 3 storey-high. You have to keep an open eye during the whole trip because the falls is actually hidden and you won’t know that a small river along the road actually goes directly down to this falls. It took me around 10 minutes before I finished rappelling down and landed my foot on a piece of rock with in the cliff which was still quite high above the water. After I detached the ropes and removed the harness from my body, I breathed in some oxygen first before jumping to around 10 meter high cliff. Read More!

From Dumaguete: Take a Ceres Bus bound for Mabinay. Tell the driver that you are on your way to Niludhan Falls and you are alighting at Paniabonan Crossing. From Paniabonan Crossing wait for Ceres Bus coming from Mabinay station bound to Bayawan City. Tell the driver to stop at Niludhan Falls.

From Mabinay: Take a Ceres Bus to Bayawan City and tell the driver or conductor to stop at Niludhan Falls. There are six trips daily (5:30 AM, 9:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 3:00 PM, 5:00 PM).

From Bayawan City: Take a Ceres Bus bound for Mabinay and stop at Niludhan Falls. The Ceres Bus schedule is the same as Mabinay - Bayawan Route.

From Dumaguete to Bayawan City via Pamplona and Sta. Catalina: Since we were based in Barangay San Isidro in Pamplona town, we waited for a Ceres Bus from Dumaguete to Bayawan, then we hopped into another bus from Bayawan City to Mabinay. Bus schedules from Dumaguete to Bayawan City are 5:00 AM, 9:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 5:00 PM.
